This misadventure continued as we stumbled upon a street performer entertaining a crowd with a mesmerizing juggling act. Inspired by the spectacle, Jack jokingly tried his hand at juggling as well. Jack picked up a couple of oranges from a nearby vendor and attempted a clumsy juggle. But instead of impressing me, he accidentally lobbed one of the oranges straight into the canal, narrowly missing a passing boat.

As the sun began to set over the picturesque canals, Jack and I found ourselves lost in conversation, sharing stories and dreams beneath the fading twilight 

Europe is a really bad place for building wealth due to taxes, low wages, and high regulations. There's a saying that I completely forget the exact wording but I'll paraphrase which is build your wealth in the US and then once you reach FatFIRE move to Europe where there is better infrastructure and much lower cost of living plus a less toxic dating/marriage culture. I strongly recommend working as hard as you can in your 20's to reach FatFIRE - the feeling of being able to live a great life off of just capital gains, dividends and interest is the best ever and is totally worth long hours when you're young and can easily work those hours.

About me: I moved to Japan in 1990 after being released from a care facility in Europe. Anything that can be construed as complaining while you go through the meat grinder = you being a weak bitch.

I think Japanese people take fetishism to a whole different level simply because of the conservative socially repressed nature of their society.
